Sunday's Final Round Set for a Showdown

J.J. Spaun leads by one stroke heading into Sunday's Final Round of the 2025 Sony Open in Hawaii. Making his eighth Sony Open in Hawaii start, his best finish was in 2023 when he tied for 12th place. His first PGA TOUR victory was in 2022 at the Valero Texas Open. "I've felt pretty calm and relaxed out there. It's been a fun week here in Hawai'i. It's always laid back and easy going," Spaun said. "I've kind of been carrying that mindset on the course, and it's easy to feel that way when things are going your way and you're playing well. Yeah, just try to hone in on that tomorrow and see what happens."

Patrick Fishburn is tied for 2nd with Stephan Jaeger and the TOUR's 2023 Rookie of the Year Eric Cole at 12-under-198 after 54 holes. Making his Sony Open in Hawaii debut, Fishburn is seeking his first PGA TOUR victory after 28 starts. His best finish was 3rd place last year in both the 2024 Barracuda Championship and the 2024 Procore Championship.

"It's always a great opportunity to have a chance to win. It's a life-long dream. Been thinking about playing on the PGA TOUR since I was eight years old, winning on the PGA TOUR," said Fishburn. "When the opportunity presents itself, play aggressive but still continue to play smart, have good course management and just take what the course gives me. It's a tricky course (Waialae) with the conditions and the firmness. So you've just got to be patient and do the best you can."

The chase will be on at Waialae on Sunday with 36 players within six strokes of the lead - a list that includes major winners Keegan Bradley and Brian Harman and TOUR winners Harry Hall, Nick Taylor, Nico Echavarria, Lee Hodges, Lucas Glover, Maverick McNealy, Gary Woodland and past Sony Open champions Russell Henley and last week's Sentry winner Hideki Matsuyama.
